Pennsylvania-based Onvo has officially found its first-ever Chief Hot Dog Officer (CHO)., following its search launched in May for passionate hot dog lovers, the retailer said in a press release sent to NACS. Onvo announced that fellow Pennsylvania-based foodie and digital storyteller, Abby Giunta, has taken the role.
“Beating out a competitive field of nearly 50 roller grill enthusiasts, backyard grill masters and creative foodies, Giunta is taking the keys to the ultimate summer road trip. From now through Labor Day, she will embark on a flavor-packed trek across Onvo’s 42 travel plazas and convenience stores in Pennsylvania and upstate New York. Her mission? To ensure Onvo's legendary hot dogs exceed highway travelers’ expectations, uncover the ultimate regional topping combinations and pioneer creative ‘roller grill hacks’ for food lovers on the go,” Onvo said.
Fans can follow her regional adventures on Onvo’s Facebook and Instagram, as well as on Giunta’s TikTok, where she will share real-time reviews, behind-the-scenes travel logs and new recipes featuring Onvo’s extensive roller grill and condiment bars.
“While America celebrates its 250th birthday this year, the creation of this position also helps us celebrate an iconic summer staple: the hot dog!” said Harman Aulakh, vice president of marketing at Onvo. “Abby impressed us with her creative food storytelling and her infectious energy. She doesn't see a hot dog just as a quick snack; she views it as a blank canvas full of culinary possibilities. We know our road warriors are traveling long miles this summer, and Abby is the perfect partner to inspire them to turn their pit stops into delicious adventures!”
In other recent Onvo news, earlier this month the retailer celebrated the grand opening of its newest location in Mansfield, Pennsylvania. “The opening marks Onvo’s first location in Tioga County and the company’s 42nd travel plaza across Pennsylvania and New York, further expanding its footprint along one of Pennsylvania’s busiest travel corridors,” Onvo said.
