Join NACS and food safety experts Eric Moore from Testo Solutions, Dr. Don Schaffner of Rutgers University and Dr. Lisa Shelley of North Carolina State University for a free webinar, “Alarms That Matter: How to Fix Alarm Fatigue Before It Becomes a Food Safety Problem” on Friday, April 10 at 1:00 p.m. EST.
This session will dive into the challenges of setting effective alarms for out-of-compliance hot and cold holding temperatures in food safety management. Experts will explore the concept of alarm fatigue and how frequent alerts can lead to desensitization among staff, potentially compromising food safety.
Additionally, the session will discuss how pathogen growth models can inform alarm thresholds, highlighting the risks associated with temperature deviations. Participants will explore best practices for alarm settings, including appropriate thresholds and response protocols, to ensure that alarms serve their intended purpose without overwhelming the team.
With more labor-intensive and sophisticated foodservice programs being developed and executed within the convenience industry, food safety is essential. The NACS Food Safety Forum, taking place April 13-14 in Schaumburg, Illinois, is developed and administered by convenience industry food safety, foodservice, quality assurance and risk management leaders. This is the only retail-focused event of its kind for the global convenience community.
The event will take place prior to the NACS State of the Industry Summit April 14-16.
