BreakTime Corner Market (BTCM) is buying 23 Loaf ‘N Jug stores in North Dakota and Montana from EG America, reported the Grand Forks Herald. The acquisition includes all 14 Loaf ‘N Jug stores in North Dakota and nine locations in Montana.

Bret Sullivan, BTCM regional operations director, will oversee the ownership transition, and told the Herald that the retailer will expand products inside the store and add local products that tie into the community.

“Loaf 'N Jug is kind of restrictive at the store level because they want their stores to be the exact same,” Sullivan said. “We don’t operate that way, so you get a little more variety of what we sell.”

The 23 stores add to BTCM’s portfolio, which the company has been growing through acquisitions in recent years, including the acquisition of 48 Texas stores a few years ago. “With stores in Kansas and Colorado, BTCM believes the move northward to North Dakota and Montana was a natural progression for the company,” wrote the Herald.

“Everybody is excited to see more territory. I just came from western Texas and western Kansas. It’s a whole different look when you get up to Montana and North Dakota,” Sullivan said.

With the acquisitions, BTCM will own about 175 convenience stores nationwide, according to KFGO local news in Fargo, North Dakota.
