TravelCenters of America is giving a complimentary meal to active-duty military, veterans and reservists on the Fourth of July at participating TA, Petro and TA Express restaurants nationwide.

Military personnel can claim the meal with proof of service (U.S. Uniformed Services ID card, current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES), veterans' organization membership card, photograph in uniform, DD214 form, a citation or commendation).

Guests may also visit the Fallen Soldier Tables that will be on display at some restaurants on July 4th. “This single place setting at an empty table demonstrates the sacrifices of those who gave their lives to protect our freedom,” said TA.

In addition to honoring active military members and veterans on July 4th, TA noted that it engages in efforts that advocate for veterans year-round:

  • TA hosts events at military bases to promote job opportunities within the company and works with Special Operators Transition Foundation (SOTF), and the Transition Assistance Program (TAP) to help veterans looking to enter corporate careers.
  • TA provides monetary support to Wreaths Across America, an organization committed to placing wreaths on veterans’ graves across America’s national cemeteries, and Folds of Honor, an organization providing educational scholarships for children and spouses of fallen or disabled American military service members and first responders.
  • In November, the company held a roundup campaign in honor of Veteran’s Day to raise funds for SOFT.

Wawa is also honoring veterans during its Hoagie Day, part of the Wawa Welcome America Fourth of July festival. The retailer is giving away 25,000 shorti hoagies, donating sandwiches to veteran centers and hosting entertainment performances by Voices of Service, a singing quartet of military veterans.

This year, The Wawa Foundation will make a formal check presentation of $900,000 from Wawa’s in-store customer fundraising campaign to support USO programs.

Back in May during Military Appreciation Month, Pilot offered food and beverage discounts for active-duty military and veterans and raised money for the Call of Duty Endowment, and Yesway donated $100,000 to Operation Homefront.
