QuikTrip has installed "anti-loitering domes” outside a number of its Tulsa, Oklahoma, locations in an effort to curb "increases in loitering,” reported local TV news station KJRH.

The 3D-printed half domes line the ground adjacent to the building façade and attempt to deter loiters from leaning against or sleeping next to the store’s walls. QuikTrip didn’t say how many stores were part of the ongoing trial program, but the news station confirmed there were at least two locations.

“In an effort to provide the highest quality products and service, QuikTrip is continuously looking for and deploying innovative solutions to create an in-store experience that maintains the safety and wellbeing of our customers and employees—a commitment and responsibility we take very seriously," QT Corporate Communications Manager Aisha Jefferson said in a statement.

Jefferson continued, "At a select number of stores, we have introduced 3D printed anti-loitering domes as a pilot program to address an increase in loitering. We will continue to take the necessary actions to provide our customers with the best experience while ensuring the safety of both our employees and communities in which we are honored to serve.”

QuikTrip opened its first Ohio location earlier this month in Dayton, and its first store in the Oklahoma City metro area in February. The retailer has also announced plans to enter the Florida market.
