Panera Bread is continuing its menu overhaul with a new line of breakfast items, with savory and sweet options, more bacon, new proteins, and creative spins on popular bakery items. The café is focusing on cinnamon as its thematic menu flavor.

"We're thrilled to introduce exciting new breakfast items to our bakery-cafes nationwide as part of our ongoing menu transformation," said Alicia Mowder, SVP of product strategy and insights, Panera Bread. "These delicious offerings will feature sweet, savory, and protein-packed options to kickstart your day, including options that feature our signature cinnamon rolls—a customer favorite that are baked for guests in our cafes.”

Panera launched CinnaScrambles, which it said, “combines classic breakfast sandwich ingredients with the chain's beloved warmed cinnamon roll for a unique and delicious sweet and savory experience starting at $5.39.” The new item comes in two varieties: the CinnaScramble with scrambled eggs and American cheese on a warm cinnamon roll, and the Sausage CinnaScramble, which adds sausage or can be customized with bacon.

Panera also introduced limited edition CinnaTops, its cinnamon roll base topped with icing and a choice of bakery topping, including candy cookie, choco chipper cookie or fudgy brownie, starting at $4.79.

The café is also adding new breakfast sandwiches, including:

  • Bacon Double Take: Double the bacon of a traditional Panera breakfast sandwich, along with two types of cheese.
  • Steak and Wake: This limited time offering “features marinated, thin-sliced steak served on Panera's artisan Ciabatta bread.”
  • Ham, egg, and cheese.

Shipley Do-Nuts is also introducing new breakfast items with the launch of new egg and cheese kolaches (savory stuffed pastries from Czech cuisine), available now through September 30 at all 350-plus Shipley locations while supplies last. The new kolaches come in three varieties: Egg and cheese, priced starting at $2.99; egg, cheese, and sausage, starting at $3.49; and egg, cheese, sausage, and jalapeno, also starting at $3.49.

"Breakfast has always been a strong suit for us, and with Gen Z, demand is only growing. Our new kolaches check a lot of boxes for them—they are hot, protein-filled, affordable, and easy to eat on the go," said Shipley Do-Nuts CEO Flynn Dekker. "Our new egg and cheese kolaches have tested off the charts with consumers. We soft-launched the new products in June at select stores, and sales have been more than 10 times our expectations. We're already working on what we can do with our kolaches next as new consumers discover them."
