NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.—Chipotle Mexican Grill has launched an interactive game called "Buy The Dip," which will give away more than $200,000 in free cryptocurrency as well as promo codes for one-cent guacamole and one-cent queso blanco through July 31, which is National Avocado Day.

Chipotle fans can access the game by visiting www.chipotlebuythedip.xyz.

Chipotle accepts digital currency, including cryptocurrency, nationwide through a partnership with Flexa. Guests can use 98 different digital currencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Avalanche, Solana and Dogecoin, to pay for their items at Chipotle with a FLEXA-enabled app.

Chipotle first immersed itself in the crypto space in April 2021 when it became the first U.S. restaurant brand to launch a cryptocurrency giveaway through its "BURRITOS OR BITCOIN" promotion, which dished out $100,000 in bitcoin to celebrate National Burrito Day.

"We want to build the next generation of Chipotle fandom by connecting with the Web3 community," said Chris Brandt, chief marketing officer. "We're excited to bring positivity to the crypto conversation by empowering fans to 'Buy The Dip.'"

On National Avocado Day, Chipotle will offer one-cent guac to all Chipotle Rewards members when they use the digital-only promo code "AVO2022" at checkout on the Chipotle app and Chipotle.com.

Chipotle has been venturing into the metaverse. Last year, Chipotle built a restaurant on Roblox’s gaming platform for a Halloween promotion, and the fast-casual restaurant launched a game and new virtual restaurant on the same platform. The restaurant looks like Chipotle’s original restaurant in Denver.

“This is a place we want to play,” said Brandt. “We want to remain a leader here and we’ll continue to experiment without a doubt.”

Bitcoin ATMs are increasingly making their way into convenience stores, including Kwik Trip, Sheetz, Circle K, On the Run Australia, TXB stores and others.
